This specialty Clinic is designed to teach the
physical and mental skills needed to out-manoeuvre an opponent. Many drills will
involve puck handling, shooting and skating skills, specific to forwards. (One
on ones options, stick handling, escape moves, one-time shooting, slap-shot,
backhand, quick feet/hands). We will have races, relays, contests, etc. that will
require players to perform at game speed. These clinics use innovative props
(weighted pucks, Mario men, short blade sticks, obstacles, shooting targets, etc.)
that will challenge the skills of players. This is a very popular clinic and we
recommend that you register early.

2008 FALL POWER SKATING CLINIC CLINICS SEPT 26,27,28
STEWART HURLEY ARENA
The purpose of the fall power-skating clinics is to allow students to familiarize themselves with the proper skills of skating prior to team tryouts. The Fall clinics use the best and most appropriate drills from our summer clinics. The clinic will provide a review of the fundamentals of efficient skating. Children must wear full hockey equipment and bring their hockey stick. Because this is a power skating clinic, we will not be using pucks. The hockey stick will be used as a prop for many of our skating exercises. The sessions will be fast paced with short efficient verbal explanations. Because most young children learn best visually all skills will be repeatedly demonstrated. Students will spend most of their clinic time skating and practicing the techniques being taught. Each of the three daily sessions will have a different theme.
