Overview of the Scoring, Defensemen, Power Skating, Basic and Checking Clinics

The Scoring, Defensemen, Basics and Checking Clinics will all have two hours of ice time per day. The first hour will be drills designed to improve individual skills. After a 15 minute break, the second hour will be used for team drills, team tactics and shooting. The Basics and Checking clinics will have a controlled teaching scrimmage, with all participants receiving equal ice time. We welcome players at any level of experience. Clinic prices are displayed with both basic price and with 14% HST. for comparison. Clinics are open to male and female players.

History of the Clinics

Yerxa Sports first clinic was a three day Christmas Holiday Clinic in 1982. Twenty two children attended this clinic. Yerxa Sports summer clinics have operated for twenty two years in Saint John and over 12,000 students have attended our summer clinics. We have begun a partnership with our QMJHL Major Junior team, "THE SAINT JOHN SEA DOGS" and are working closely with them to offer quality programs at reasonable prices. In 2008 Yerxa Sports Clinics will offer ten specialty clinics for over three hundred children. Our 2008 clinics will be Aug 18-29 at the STEWART HURLEY ARENA.

Yerxa Sports Clinics is locally owned and staffed by talented and respected educators and coaches from southern New Brunswick. We also operate "four on four" development leagues during the spring. Our growth has been a product of the excellent staff and innovative programs we offer each year. Yerxa Sports is a local enterprise that has grown a reputation for quality programs at affordable prices. We realize that our success depends on the satisfaction of our customers. 2008 Registration and Payment Method

A deposit of $50.00 must accompany the Registration Form. Please enclose a post-dated check dated May 15th for your balance. If the balance is paid by May 15th deduct $10.00 from your total balance. After May 15^th, we accept registrations until classes are full @ $225. We also accept money orders. Summer Clinic students will also receive a $10.00 discount on any of our Fall Power Skating Clinics.

General Information about the Clinics

The Stewart Hurley Arena has recently undergone extensive renovations to the dressing rooms and is an excellent facility that provides quality summer ice.
Our staff is a caring, dedicated, innovative team of "PROFESSIONAL EDUCATORS" who have been instructing with Yerxa Sports for 22 years.
Our staff uses leading edge teaching techniques, hockey drills, tactics and terminology. Most clinic lead instructors are Licensed Professional Educators.
Staff members are active players or coaches during the 2007-2008 season.
Your child will get a complimentary hockey jersey if registered by May 15th, 2008 .
The first 30 skaters per class will be accepted.

Additional Information

Participants must provide all their hockey equipment. This protective equipment must be worm for all drills. C.S.A. approved helmets and neck guards are required. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend any off ice activities as well as the on ice sessions at the STEWART HURLEY ARENA.

Refund policy: A refund, less $50, will be made upon request. After July 1, refunds will be 50% unless for documented medical reasons. Yerxa Hockey Clinics reserve the right to modify the programs described herein. Players who register will be mailed or e-mailed a confirmation, upon receipt of his or her registration forms. Instruction and Clinic Philosophy

"QUALITY INSTRUCTION BY PROFESSIONAL EDUCATORS"

John Turner, Moe Arseneault, Brent Wickens, Jim Fleming, Mike Butler Sr. and Jr. are Lead Instructors at Yerxa Hockey Clinics. Both John and Moe are school teachers and well respected coaches. Jim Fleming (Saint John Police) has an education degree and is the goalie coach of the Saint John Sea Dogs. Mike Butler Sr. was a member of the 1988 Canadian Olympic team and ten time Canadian Badminton Champion. The work ethic, teaching skills and attention to detail by these instructors will ensure your child will receive a productive and enjoyable clinic. This summer we may have members of the Saint John Sea Dogs acting as junior instructors.

The core group of instructors at Yerxa Hockey Clinics has been working together for over 22 years.

Most of YERXA SPORTS CLINICS staff are "Professional Educators" with extensive experience coaching all levels of hockey (initiation to professional)

All lead instructors are well known family men, educators, and coaches.
The strength of our clinics is our knowledge of modern educational techniques and applying these techniques to teach the fundamentals of hockey.

As educators we realize that we must tap into children’s strong visual memory therefore, we teach by using quick, efficient demonstrations.

Our clinics offer well-organized classes with a minimum of down time. Students are skating and actively participating most all of the time they are on the ice.
Our Instructors ,with backgrounds in education, we know how to create structured, orderly classes that allow children to learn effectively.
Our background, as professional educators, has given us the skills and experience to create a positive learning atmosphere for your child.
